“In order to accede to the ever-increasing desire of the P.O.W. to render their services in a useful capacity, and to maintain the agricultural life of South Africa itself, more than ten camps have been established throughout the country.
Some of these camps supply P.O.W. for work under private employers, whose farms have derived therefrom an enormous benefit as the result of the excellent work and the far-reaching ability and experience of these P.OW.
Other Camps have communal schemes where P.O.W., more especially adapted, carry out work of a specific nature such as road-making, forestry, harvesting, eradication of prickly pear, etc.
For all this work the P.O.W. receive a daily payment which enables them to vary their fare and ameliorate their position.
Per venire incontro al sempre maggior desiderio dei P.di G. di prestare la loro opera nel modo migliore e per sostenere la stessa vita agricola sud Africana più di dieci campi sono stati distaccati in tutto il Paese.
Alcuni di questi campi forniscono P. di G. a datori di Lavoro private, le cui fattorie hanno ricavato enorme beneficio dall’ottimo Lavoro e dalla provvida abilità ed sperienza dei P. di G. impiegati.
Altri campi invece sono collettivi: in essi P. di G. specialmente adatti svolgono un particolare genere di Lavoro come costruzione di strade, lavori forestali, mietitura, sradicamento di fichi d’india, ecc.
Per il Lavoro svolto il Prigioniero riceve una paga giornaliera che gli permette di variare il vitto e milgiorare la sua posizione.”
