Extended description
The U.S. Officers' club was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Today, the Camp Douglas Officers’ Club State Historic Site is under the care of the nearby Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum in Douglas, which also holds a collection of artifacts from the camp. The building was the American officers' club at an internment camp for Prisoners of War during World War II, which, between January 1943 and February 1946 housed first Italian and then German prisoners of war in the United States. The walls of the officers' club are covered with murals depicting western life and folklore, painted by three Italian prisoners. The building was later used by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and, later, by a Masonic-sponsored youth organization, Job's Daughters.
