Detainees set up a farm and market garden. to supply them with eggs, milk, poultry and vegetables. Prisoner labour was used externally to experiment with new irrigation systems. Like in the other two camps at Hay, the detainees painted, sketched and carved wooden toys for local children. They established schools for detainees aged between 17 and 20 and handiwork classes for all. They wrote and produced a news sheet that reported on day-to-day camp business, staged revues, concerts and plays and set up a soccer field.
