Vincenzo Longo was born in Lucera, province of Foggia, on 4 January 1919. Longo was captured in Sidi el Barrani in 1940, then held captive in Bombay until being transferred to Australia. In Australia he was a Prisoner of War in the Murchison Prisoner of War Camp 13 (VIC) from 1944 until repatriation in 1947.
Full biographical data
Vincenzo Longo was captured in Sidi el Barrani on 9 December 1940. Then Longo was transferred to Bombay where he was held captive. From Bombay he was transferred to Melbourne where he was interned on 27 April 1944 and was transferred to Murchison Prisoner of War Camp 13. On 4 July 1944 Longo was transferred to the Prisoner of War Control Centre (Hostel) in Bonegilla, then on 30 June 1945 to Prisoner of War Control Hostel V14 in Darley and to Prisioner of War Control Hostel V23 in Seymour (ex V14) on 29 February 1946. He was repatriated on 10 Jauary 1947 on "Otrando"
