'A second lieutenant under General Barberis' command, he was captured by the British—specifically, a platoon of New Zealanders—after surviving the hellish Battle of Tobruk in January 1941. He was first transferred to Bangalore and, after a 2,500-kilometre journey, arrived on April 3, 1942, at a British prisoner-of-war camp nestled in the Indian Himalayas.' Translation from: I 10.000 prigionieri italiani sull'Himalaya che nessuno ricorda, ma un ufficiale si costruì di nascosto una macchina fotografica per documentare, by Chicco Magni.
In Yol, he stayed in camp 8 and 28.
He was released on the 28th of July 1948.
